What does the future hold?
This little painful virus is still causing problems throughout Australia and other parts of the world.
I am still dreaming but guess I expect changes every time I wake up.
I have made the decision to put Scotland 2021 on hold, every time I start to make plans the goal posts change. My walking changes are only for overseas.
2021 will see me complete some smaller walks in Australia. As everyone who walks in Australia knows that longer walks in this large country means sleeping in tents and sleeping bags, sleeping in the bush and this means sleeping where there could be snake and large spiders. Most people know that snakes and me are not great mates. At least you are safe in a hotel room. My walks will be day to day walks with a hotel/motel in between. Over the last few weeks I did look at purchasing a small tent and everything that goes with it but it is too much of a leap for me at this age. I even got as far as pressing the "Pay" button but just could not see me sleeping in the bush on the hard ground. It was a nice thought while it lasted.
2022 will see me back in Europe for the Passion Play/small tour and then back to the Grand St Bernard Pass to finish the Via Francigena to Rome, a walk that I started in 2017. It is like an itch that must be scratched and must be finished. I will only have a timeline of about 5 weeks so must decide what sections I really want to walk and what sections I can miss. Any help from people who have walked it would be appreciated.
Spring is now with is in Australia so only a few weeks left before the heat arrives and walking once again is placed on hold. Next week is my first 24 klms walk and then I will catch the bus back home the following day. Yes it means a night in a motel but this I can handle.
The 4th walking book 'Pilgrims Keep to the Left' has been returned to the Australian printers and hopefully on the last print in a couple of weeks. I hope to have it out in public for sale in mid to late October. It can already be read on Amazon Kindle and if an overseas resident wishes to purchase it, Amazon will also sell a paperback copy. They will not sell a paperback copy to an Australian resident. It is a sore point with me but nothing that I can do to change their minds.
I will keep this blog running for any future posts or photos and I will still continue to walk for Cancer Queensland.
We are Pilgrims on a journey, we are companions on the road
